Arctic Travel Costs in 2026: 55 Destinations, Cheapest First

Every destination on this page sits at or above 60° north, plus a handful of far-north places that latitude alone misses. Most of them are small — settlements of a few thousand people, sometimes a few hundred — and that size is exactly why their prices are hard to look up. The mainstream cost-of-living databases are crowdsourced, and a town needs a steady flow of contributors before it gets a published figure at all, so Oslo and Reykjavik are covered in detail while Ilulissat, Qaanaaq and Tasiilaq have no entry to read at all. The figures below come from this site's own dataset instead: one daily travel budget per destination, a 0–10 suitability score, and the internet and safety readings that sit on each destination's page, refreshed on the same schedule as the rest of the site. Costs are US dollars per day for one traveller and cover accommodation, food and getting around locally. They exclude flights, which dominate an Arctic trip and vary far too much by departure point to average honestly.
